En España se cumplió una visita oficial en el cierre de la gira. \nEl presidente Arévalo atendió una invitación para participar en la Sexagésima Conferencia de Seguridad de Múnich que\, con la asistencia de 450 líderes\, entre jefes de Estado\, miembros de delegaciones gubernamentales\, funcionarios de organismos internacionales y empresarios\, que sesionaron bajo el lema “Construir la paz a través del diálogo”. \nEn la actividad sobre seguridad mundial\, efectuada durante tres días en la ciudad alemana\, el presidente de Guatemala sostuvo 13 reuniones bilaterales y participó en dos paneles en los que se debatió sobre el tema de la corrupción y el fenómeno de la migración. \nEn Bruselas\, Bélgica\, tuvo reuniones con autoridades de la Unión Europea (UE) y el Parlamento Europeo y en la capital francesa fue recibido por el presidente Emmanuel Macron. \nAdemás\, se reunió en París con los titulares de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación\, la Ciencia y la Cultura (Unesco)\, y en Ginebra\, Suiza\, con las autoridades del máximo organismo mundial encargadas de los asuntos de Refugiados (ACNUR) y de los Derechos Humanos (ACNUDH). \nEn Lausana\, Suiza\, conversó con el presidente del Comité Olímpico Internacional (COI)\, Thomas Bach\, sobre una posible resolución a la disputa legal en Guatemala que ha marginado a los atletas nacionales de las competencias\, como los Juegos Olímpicos a celebrarse en julio próximo en París. \nAcuerdos que favorecen cooperación\, turismo e inversiones \nLa gira finalizó el pasado viernes\, luego de una serie de reuniones con el rey Felipe VI y el presidente del Gobierno Español\, Pedro Sánchez\, con quienes se conversó sobre temas de interés común y de cooperación en favor de Guatemala. \nLas conversaciones en Madrid incluyeron a empresarios españoles como parte de la “construcción de una agenda bilateral ambiciosa\, que haga avanzar a nuestro país”. \nEl presidente Arévalo enumeró tres de los resultados más relevantes del viaje a Europa\, como son “el compromiso de trabajar para que la suspensión de Guatemala sea levantada lo antes posible\, a fin de que nuestros atletas puedan participar en los próximos Juegos Olímpicos portando orgullosamente la bandera nacional”. \nEn segundo lugar – detalló -\, se firmó un acuerdo conjunto con la línea aérea Iberia de España\, con el objetivo de promover a Guatemala como destino turístico en los mercados donde opera la empresa española y el aumento de rutas y vuelos entre las dos naciones. \nAsí como la firma del Memorándum de Entendimiento que estrecha las relaciones con 23 naciones de la UE.
